Former Falcon defenseman Bobby Shea made his second appearance tonight for the Reading Royals of the ECHL. Shea played a strong defensive game and helped the Royals to a 3-1 victory.

The Royals got off to a fast start scoring 3:30 into the first period as Nikita Kashirsky beat Walleye goaltender Kent Simpson. Reading would double their lead when Yannick Tifu scored at 5:47 of the first on the power play.

The second period saw back and forth action as the Walleye attempted to get an answering marker. But, Nikita Kashirsky would dash Toledo’s hopes, scoring at 2:50 of the third. Willie Coetzee of the Walleye would break the shutout at 15:21 on the power play. But the Royals cruised to a 3-1 victory.

The most notable moment for the former Falcon Shea came at 16:27 of the third. Shea got into his first professional fight with the Walleye’s Stephon Thorne. With his former teammates and coaches cheering on, Shea and Thorne brought the sellout Huntington Center crowd to their feet before officials stepped in to stop the tilt after a spirited scrap.

Update (3/24/13): Bobby met with Drew and Todd before Reading played Toledo Sunday night. Thanks to both Reading and Bobby for taking a few minutes to talk to us:
