When I joined Todd to launch BGSUHockey.com we had a couple missions in mind. First, to provide the absolute best Falcon hockey coverage anywhere. Second, we wanted to be able to give back. With that in mind, we’re happy to announce that the staff of BGSUHockey.com will be participating in Movember this year. For those of you who aren’t aware Movember is a month long charity event to help raise awareness of men’s health issues such as prostate cancer and mental health. Those gentlemen participating will completely shave their face beginning on November 1st and are only permitted to grow a mustache for the month.
In addition to bringing awareness to these men’s health issues we also want to raise money for a worthy cause. That’s why we’re announcing that throughout November, we will donate half of all donations our site receives to the American Cancer Society of Northwest Ohio. We will also give $1 of every 1984 sticker sold to the ACS.
Every week we will provide an update (with pictures, unfortunately) on how our “Mo’s” are doing and also will showcase some of our favorites from the BGSU hockey team who will be taking part in Movember as well. We also want to highlight some of our reader’s mustaches as well. Feel free to tweet with hashtag #BGSUHockeyMo with a picture of your mustache or post a picture on our Facebook page. You may be picked to be featured on our site as our Fan Mo of the Week.
As of midnight on November 1, 2013, all of our staff members will be clean shaven, including yours truly who sports a full beard year-round. We are accepting donations now and our goal is to raise $500 for the ACS. I’m going to kickoff our Movember by donating $25 towards the goal. If every person that visited our site donated just a couple dollars we’d blow this goal off the ice. To donate, click the button below or go here to buy one of our stickers.
Thanks again for your ongoing support of BGSUHockey.com. We have some of the best fans in college hockey and I’m sure we have some of the most benevolent too. Roll Along!
