Bowling Green moved up one spot to 13th in this week’s U.S. College Hockey Online poll and remained 14th in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. This week’s polls were announced Monday afternoon.

In the U.S. College Hockey Online Top 20, the Falcons received 419 points, compared to 366 a week ago. The Falcons are in the poll for the fifth straight week, improving their standing each week after starting at No. 19 on Nov. 10.

BG recorded a 5-5 tie and a 5-0 win last weekend at Northern Michigan, which was ranked 19th last week.

The Falcons are 11-3-2 overall and 8-1-1 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

In the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Top 15, BG remained 14th. The Falcons, however, saw their point total increase to 93, up from 67 a week ago.

Two other WCHA teams joined BG in both polls. Minnesota State (12-4) is third and Michigan Tech (12-2) is fourth in both. NMU fell out of the USCHO Top 20.

The Falcons are idle until Jan. 3-4 when they face No. 17 Robert Morris (10-1-3) in a nonleague series.

The teams play Jan. 3 in an outdoor game at Fifth Third Field in Toledo. The series concludes Jan. 4 at Robert Morris.

Faceoff is noon at Toledo and 7 p.m. at Robert Morris.

The Falcons’ next league series is Jan. 9-10 when they host Lake Superior.

BG has the WCHA’s best winning percentage (.850) in league play.

The Falcons are third in the league with 17 points. MSU and Tech lead with 20, but both have played two more games than BG. Tech and MSU both are 10-2 in the league.
