Falcons climb to 6th in both polls

Bowling Green continued its climb in both national polls this week.

The Falcons are sixth in both the U.S. College Hockey Online Top 20 and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Top 15.

The latest polls were announced Monday.

In the USCHO voting, BG also saw its point total increase to 705, up from 642 a week ago.

In the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine voting, the Falcons received 325 points, up from 249 last week.

The Falcons moved up one spot in the USCHO poll and two spots in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

BG split a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at Michigan Tech last weekend. Tech climbed one spot in both polls to 10th this week.

WCHA leader Minnesota State remained the top-ranked team in the country.

BG is 14-4-4 overall and 10-2-2 in the WCHA.

The Falcons are third in the league with 22 points, one behind Tech and nine behind Minnesota State. BG has two games in hand on Tech and four games in hand on Minnesota State.

BG will not play Tech or Minnesota State again during the regular season, but Tech and Minnesota State have one series remaining, Feb. 27-28 in Mankato, Minn.

BG hosts Lake Superior Friday and Saturday nights at 7:07 in the Ice Arena.

The Lakers are 6-19-1, 5-13. They’re tied with Alaska-Anchorage for the final WCHA playoff berth with 10 points, but UAA has played two fewer games.
