Jared VanWormer scored with 1:12 remaining in overtime to give Ferris State a 3-2 win against No. 8 Bowling Green on Saturday.

Van Wormer had two goals and an assist in the game to help the Bulldogs salvage the final game of a four-game odyssey against the Falcons. Jason Binkley also scored for Ferris.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, with a pair of goals that beat Bowling Green goaltender Chris Nell through traffic. VanWormer got the Bulldogs on the board just 1:06 into the game, while Binkley’s goal came at the 12:25 mark.

But the Falcons clawed back. Late in the second period, Adam Berkle intercepted a pass in the attacking zone, and executed a perfect give-and-go with Matt Pohlkamp to half the Ferris lead.

With 6:31 remaining in the third period, Ben Murphy evened the score, beating C.J. Motte on a rebound off a shot from Brandon Hawkins.

Nell stopped 38 of 41 shots, ending a string of three consecutive games started by Tommy Burke.
