Falcons Drop In National Polls

Bowling Green dropped two spots to 12th in both of this week’s national polls.

In the U.S. College Hockey Online Top 20, the Falcons received 419 points, down from 521 a week ago.

In the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Top 15, BG totaled 91 points, compared to 174 last week.

BG, 3-1-1 overall, won just one of its three games last week, posting a 4-2 win at Canisius Friday.

The Falcons also played a 2-2 tie Saturday at the Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology. They opened the week with a 4-1 loss Tuesday at Western Michigan.

BG is idle this weekend.

The Falcons return to action Oct. 31-Nov. 1 when they travel to Alaska-Anchorage for their first Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

Falcons Add A New Recruit

BG also received a verbal commitment from Adam Smith, a defenseman for Newmarket in the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Smith will join the Falcons for the 2016-17 season, according to Eliteprospects.com.

The 6-foot, 181-pounder is in his third season with Newmarket. He has seven goals, 26 assists and 84 penalty minutes in 94 career games.

He turned 19 in June and is from Sharon, Ontario.

Any chance that Smith could come for the second semester this year?

Coach Bergeron has stated everything is on the table in regards to bringing someone new in. But, the issue with bringing in someone just halfway through the season is you still blow a whole season of eligibility for those 2-3 months of playing time.
