Bowling Green moved up one spot to 14th in this week’s U.S. College Hockey Online Top 20 announced Monday.

The Falcons have won five straight games and are 6-1-2 in their last nine contests following a 2-1, 4-3 (overtime) sweep of Northern Michigan in the Ice Arena.

BG received 320 points, an increase from 272 last week.

In the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Top 15, the Falcons moved into 15th place with 37 points. The Falcons had 19 points last week when they were among the teams receiving votes.

The Falcons host Minnesota State (8-6-2, 7-1-2) this weekend in a battle of two of the top teams in the WCHA.

The Mavericks and Michigan Tech are tied for the league lead, two points ahead of BG and four points ahead of Ferris State. BG and Minnesota State each have two games in hand on Tech and Ferris.

The Mavericks are 8-2-2 in their last 12 games after opening the season with four straight nonleague losses to No. 6 Nebraska-Omaha and No. 7 St. Cloud.

Minnesota State is the WCHA’s defending regular-season and playoff champion, and it was the coaches pick to win the championship this season. BG was second in the coaches poll.
