Falcons 14th in both polls this week

Bowling Green remained 14th in the U.S. College Hockey Online Top 20 and moved up one spot to 14th in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Top 15 this week.

Both polls were announced Monday.

The Falcons played two 2-2 ties against Minnesota State in the Ice Arena.

In the USCHO Top 20, the Falcons had 325 points, an increase of five from last week.

In the USA Today Top 15, BG totaled 67 points, up from 37 last week.

BG is tied with Michigan Tech for second place in the WCHA, two points behind Minnesota State. BG and MSU each have two games in hand on Tech.

The Falcons are 9-3-5 overall and 6-2-4 in the WCHA.

BG is 7-1-4 in its last 12 games, including a 5-0-2 record in its last seven games. All 12 games have been league contests.

The Falcons finish the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule Friday and Saturday at Bemidji State in a WCHA series.

The Beavers are 5-7-3 overall and 4-6-2 in the league, including a 4-2-1 record in their last seven games. They’re coming off a split at Ferris State, winning 2-0 in Game 1 and losing 2-1 in Game 2.

Bemidji was fourth in the WCHA coaches poll after finishing fifth in the league last season.

Faceoff is 8:37 p.m. Friday and 8:07 p.m. Saturday.
