Falcons’ McLain, Baylis honored by WCHA

Bowling Green’s Mitch McLain was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association offensive player of the week and teammate Stephen Baylis was honored as the rookie of the week, the league announced Monday (read more below).

McLain had two goals and two assists in the Falcons’ 4-3, 6-2 sweep of Ferris State in the Ice Arena. The sophomore forward scored back-to-back goals in the third period Saturday to give the Falcons a 4-2 lead. He gave the Falcons the lead at 5:13 and increased the lead to two goals at 9:30. He had two assists in Friday’s win.

McLain also had nine shots on goal and was a +3 in the series.

Baylis had a goal and two assists in the series. He scored the winning goal Friday, that coming with just 2:47 remaining in the game to break a 3-3 tie. The freshman forward had one assist in each game.

Baylis had four shots on goal and was a +2 in the series.
