Bemidji, MN – In an inverse of the night before, the Falcons started strong but lost all momentum en route to a 4-1 loss to Bemidji State Saturday.

Chris Nell started again in net for the Falcons, stopping 26 shots on 30 attempts. Michael Bitzer was the goalie of record for Bemidji State, turning aside 22 of 23 shots.

Bemidji State got on the board first at 7:59 of the first period. Brett Beauvais fired a hard shot that found the net above Nell’s glove. Nate Arentz and Myles Fitzgerald assisted on the play.

Bowling Green finished the first period with 12 shots on Bitzer. Bemidji State challenged Nell eight times, who stopped seven of those attempts.

Second Period

Mitch McLain tied the game in the second period at 3:40 while shorthanded. After collecting the puck at the blue line of the Falcons zone he skated on a two-on-one with Stephen Baylis on his hip. McLain picked his spot and beat Bitzer low to his blocker side. Baylis assisted on the goal.

The Falcons finished the second period with seven shots on net, scoring on one of their chances. The Beavers had seven shots, all saved by Nell.

Third Period

The Beavers regained the lead at 1:19 of the final frame. Charlie O’Connor cleaned up a rebound from Dan Billet’s backhand, pushing the score to 2-1.
