#10 Falcons shelled by Lakers 5-0

Bowling Green, OH – Friday night was one to forget for the 10th-ranked Falcons, as they were handled by the Lake Superior Lakers 5-0.

Ryan Bednard started in net for the Falcons, stopping 12 of 17 shots faced. Nick Kossof stopped all 30 shots faced for the Lakers.

First Period

Lake Superior opened the game’s scoring at 15:29 of the first period. The Falcons turned the puck over attempting to clear the puck from their zone and Ashton Calder netted a goal on a rebound off the post for the Lakers’ first goal.

Both teams had just four shots on net in the first period.

Second Period

The Lakers extended their lead to 2-0 at 5:05 of the second period. While skating four-on-four, William Riedell sent a wrist shot on net that beat Bednard five-hole.

The Falcons shot-production improved in the second period as they tested Kossof 16 times while holding the Lakers to just four attempts.

Third Period

Lake Superior scored their third goal at 5:25 of the third period. Lukas Kaelble’s wrist shot from the face-off circle beat Bednard over his glove to extend the Lakers’ lead to 3-0.

The Lakers added goals from Anthony Nellis at 10:01 and Collin Saccoman at 13:12 to cap their scoring and earn the 5-0 win.

With the loss, the Falcons fall to 7-3-2, 2-2-1-1 on the season. The Lakers improve to 6-2-1, 3-1-1-0. The teams will conclude their weekend seriesĀ on Saturday at 7:07 PM.
