Falcons swept by #19 Beavers thanks to 4-2 decision

Bemidji, MN – The Falcons gave themselves a chance for a positive result as they tied Saturday’s game in the third period. But, the Beavers struck back with a pair of markers to earn the weekend sweep thanks to a 4-2 win.

Zack Rose started in net for the Falcons, stopping 35 of 38 shots faced. Zach Driscoll had 27 saves on 29 attempts for the Beavers.

First Period

Alex Adams scored the game’s first goal at 8:33 of the first, as he found an open net after Rose was tripped up by his own defender.

Bemidji State had 13 shots in the opening period while Bowling Green had nine attempts.

Second Period

Tommy Muck extended the Beavers’ lead to 2-0 at 6:40 of the second period. He curled around the point, skated down the slot unimpeded, and made a move that forced Rose down and out of position.

The Falcons were finally able to find the net at 12:57 of the middle frame. Frederic Letourneau collected a rebound before spinning around, sending a low shot that beat Driscoll for his fifth goal of the season. Will Cullen assisted on the play.

The Beavers had 16 shots in the second period while the Falcons had 11 chances.

Third Period

Bowling Green tied the game with a power-play goal at 2:44 of the third period. Alec Rauhauser fed the puck to Cam Wright who entered the offensive zone. He skated in on Driscoll, sending a five-hole shot that beat the Beaver goaltender for his 16th goal of the season.

Bemidji State re-took the lead at 17:31 of the final period. Ross Armour deflected a shot from the wall to push the score to 3-2. The Beavers added an empty-net goal with 57.5 seconds to play to seal the 4-2 win.

With the loss, Bowling Green falls to 13-13-2, 8-10-2-2. Bemidji State improves to 16-8-4, 16-4-2-1.

The Falcons will travel back home next weekend to face the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves.
