#7 Falcons keep streaking with 3-2 win over Beavers

Bowling Green, OH – The 7th-ranked Falcons kept their winning streak intact Thursday night with a 3-2 win over WCHA foe Bemidji State. The win was Bowling Green’s ninth in a row.

Zach Driscoll started in net for the Beavers, stopping 33 of 36 attempts. Eric Dop had 31 saves on 33 chances for the Falcons.

First Period

Bemidji State opened the game’s scoring at 13:14 of the first period. Owen Sillinger finished a two-on-one rush to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead.

The Falcons responded just a minute later at 14:14. T.J. Lloyd centered the puck to Taylor Schneider who angled the puck past Driscoll. The goal was Schneider’s fourth of the season.

Second Period

Bowling Green took their first lead of the game at 4:17 of the second period. Gavin Gould sent the puck to Connor Ford in the slot who buried his chance. The goal was Ford’s seventh of the season and was also assisted by Carson Musser.

The Falcons extended their lead to 3-1 at 12:56 of the middle frame. Brandon Kruse’s shot from the point was deflected by Max Johnson to give Johnson his seventh goal of the season.

The Beavers cut the Falcons’ lead to 3-2 at 17:52 of the second period. Brendan Harris’ one-timer beat Dop over his shoulder.

Bowling Green held a narrow 14-13 shot advantage in the second period.

Third Period

The Beavers pulled Driscoll for an extra attacker with just under a minute to play but were unable to find the equalizing goal.

Bemidji State outshot Bowling Green 10-9 in the final period.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 12-1-0, 3-0-0-0 on the season. Bemidji State falls to 2-4-2, 0-1-0-0.

The teams will conclude their series Friday at 7:07 PM.
