
Mankato, MN – The eighth-ranked Falcons had no response for the sixth-ranked Mavericks Friday night, falling 4-0.
Eric Dop stopped 25 of 29 shots faced for the Falcons. Dryden McKay stopped all 30 shots faced for the Mavericks.
First Period
Neither team scored in the opening frame.
Bowling Green outshot Minnesota State 11-10.
Second Period
The Mavericks broke through with the game’s first goal at 12:45 of the second period. Nathan Smith finished a three-on-two rush to give Minnesota State the 1-0 lead.
MSU added a second power-play goal at 18:00. Dallas Gerads tip-in pushed the Mavericks’ lead to 2-0.
Minnesota State held a slim nine to eight advantage in shots in the middle frame.
Third Period
Minnesota State pushed their lead to 3-0 at 8:46 of the final period. Walker Duehr’s shot beat Dop over his stick side for the insurance marker.
Riese Zmolek’s goal at 12:05 capped scoring for the game, giving Minnesota State the 4-0 lead.
Bowling Green outshot Minnesota State 11-10 in the third period.
With the loss, Bowling Green falls to 16-5-0, 5-2-0-1. Minnesota State improves to 10-2-1, 7-0-0-0.
The teams will conclude their weekend series Saturday at 8:07 PM.
