After a weekend where the Falcons (4-2-2, 2-0-0) outscored the Anchorage Seawolves 7-1 and picked up a sweep, it’s time for Bowling Green to hit the road for their biggest test yet: the #18 Minnesota State Mavericks.

Dan DeSalvo and Freibergs Named Players of the Week
Junior Dan DeSalvo and sophomore Ralfs Freibergs have been named WCHA Players of the Week. DeSalvo racked up four points this past week (1 goal, 3 assists) against Ohio State and Anchorage. Freibergs was named the Defensive Player of the Week. The Latvian native earned two assists and was +2 in games against Anchorage.
Still Skating Wounded
Bowling Green still has a couple big names sitting out this weekend. Both Ryan Carpenter and Brett Mohler are officially out for this weekend’s games. However, head coach Chris Bergeron indicated in his weekly press conference (available below) that both players would be re-evaluated for next week’s games against Ferris State. BG got good news on the injury front as Connor Kucera, who was diagnosed with a mild concussion from Saturday’s game, has been cleared to play this weekend.
Getting to Know the Mavericks
Minnesota State (3-3-0, 1-1-0) was picked as the preseason favorites to win the WCHA. They’re still struggling to gain consistency, however. Last weekend against Bemidji the heavily favorited Mavs were only able to pull out a split (1-4, 4-3). Also, MSU is missing their best player, Matt Leitner, who is out with injury. The junior forward was picked as the WCHA preseason Player of the Year.
