Falcons 15th in both national polls

Bowling Green cracked the Top 15 in both of the weekly college hockey polls announced Monday afternoon.

The Falcons were 15th in both the U.S. College Hockey Online poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Hockey Magazine poll.

In the USCHO voting, the Falcons received 292 points, an increase from 177 last week when they were 18th.

The Falcons’ ranking last week marked the first time since the 2007-08 they were in the Top 20.

In the USA Today poll. BG had 43 points. The Falcons were among the teams receiving votes last week, totaling 23 points.

The Falcons swept Bemidji State in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series in the Ice Arena last weekend, winning 3-1 and 3-2.

BG is 10-3-1 overall and 7-1 in the WCHA.

The Falcons are idle this weekend.

They return to action Dec. 5-6  Northern Michigan in a WCHA series. The series at NMU marks BG’s final games before Jan. 1. NMU is 19th in the USCHO poll.
